Care Package Ideas

General Guidelines:

• Do not include used items, liquids or gels (except for toothpaste), batteries, or easily breakable items.
• You may include letters, notes, and a picture of yourself for the intended recipients if you wish.

Here is a list of items you may include in a care package categorized by recipient:

For Impoverished Children and/or School Children:

• School Supplies
  • Backpacks
  • Pencil pouches
  • Rulers
  • Crayons, Markers, Pencils, Pens
  • Large erasers
  • Small pencil sharpeners
• Health and Hygiene
  • Toothpaste, Toothbrushes
  • Chewable Vitamins
  • Bar Soap
  • Wash cloths
• Small, durable toys like balls, jump ropes, toy cars, etc.
• Accessories
  • T-shirts, kids’ sizes
  • Socks
  • Jewelry
  • Hair Clips and Bows
  • Watches
  • LED Flashlights with no batteries (batteries can be purchased in Africa)

For Impoverished Adults and New Mothers:

• Health and Hygiene
  • Toothpaste, Toothbrushes
  • Vitamins
  • Bar Soap
  • Wash Cloths
  • Feminine Hygiene Products (i.e. pads and liners, but no tampons or silicone cups as they are not culturally accepted)
  • LED Flashlights with no batteries (batteries can be purchased in Africa)
• Baby Care
  • Basic Cloth Diapers
  • Diaper Pins
  • Onesies
